Sherpagaun, a Nepalese village situated within the Briddhim Village development committee in the northern reaches of Nepal near Tibet and the Himalayas, stands at an elevation of approximately 2500 meters within the Langtang National Park. The local economy revolves predominantly around agricultural pursuits, including the cultivation of staple crops such as potatoes, corn, wheat, and barley. Additionally, there is a focus on cattle farming, encompassing cows, goats, sheep, mules, and yak.

The Langtang region, where Sherpagaun is located, is a renowned destination in the tourism industry. Positioned along one of the tourist routes to the Langtang region, some locals have capitalized on this by establishing small motels to supplement their income.

Within Sherpagaun, there exists a government-funded school that imparts education up to grade 5. However, insufficient student attendance poses challenges to the school’s effective functioning. Some children from the village have chosen to relocate to Kathmandu to pursue a path as Buddhist monks, while others have ventured abroad in pursuit of a superior life and education.

The majority of Sherpagaun’s residents adhere to Buddhism, with many tracing their ancestral roots back to migrants from Tibet.
